Content takedown policy

Version 2026-07-17 — how requests to remove content from this site are reviewed, and what happens when content is removed.

Our approach

Takedown requests are reviewed by a person, not by an automated system, and removal is never triggered by the mere existence of a claim. A request has to show its work: who you are, which rights you hold, and which content is at issue. This protects authors and readers from the well-documented abuse of automated takedown pipelines, and it protects honest rights holders by making sure a real decision is made.

When content is removed

Content comes down from this site in three situations:

A binding court order. An order from a court with jurisdiction over Lamp is complied with. Orders from other jurisdictions carry weight here only once they have been recognized through the proper legal channels of the operator’s jurisdiction.

A substantiated voluntary request. When a rights holder presents compelling, verifiable evidence of ownership together with a reasonable request, the operator may choose to act on it. Whether to act is the operator’s own judgement, made case by case; acting once sets no precedent.

This site’s own rules. Content that violates the terms of service can be removed at any time, regardless of any copyright question.

Reporting other illegal content

Not every problem is a copyright problem. If content hosted here is illegal for another reason — it defames someone, exposes a person’s private information, depicts child sexual abuse (report that to your local police or hotline as well), or shows intimate images of a real person without their consent — write to the same address below with the exact URLs, what makes the content unlawful where you are, and how to reach you. Complete reports are acknowledged, reviewed by a person, and answered with a decision. Signed-in readers can also flag simple content mistakes with the Report an error button on any novel or chapter page.

What removal means for readers

Removed content stops being readable for everyone — even for readers who had already unlocked it. Coins spent on content that is later removed are not automatically returned, but the operator may credit affected accounts at their discretion, as described in the refund policy.

Submitting a removal request

Send requests to owner@lantern.cz and include: the exact content at issue (URLs); evidence that you own the rights or are authorized to act for whoever does (registration certificates, publishing agreements); an explanation of why the content should come down, naming the specific rights involved; and your full name, contact details, and the capacity in which you are acting. Complete, good-faith requests receive an acknowledgment and, once reviewed, a reasoned answer. Requests consisting of a bare form letter, unsupported ownership claims, or legal threats under laws that have not been shown to apply here may be answered only with a request to complete them — or, when plainly abusive, not at all. Submitting a request does not guarantee that any action will be taken.

What you send — your name, contact details, and the evidence you attach — is kept as correspondence for as long as the matter and any follow-up stay live, is shared only with the people who must see it to resolve the claim, and is otherwise handled as the privacy policy describes.

Abusive requests

Requests made in bad faith — to censor content, to harass an author, or by misrepresenting ownership — may be permanently ignored, and the operator reserves the right to publish them (redacted of personal contact details where the law requires) and to pursue any remedies available where they operate. Well-documented, specific, good-faith requests are far more likely to be acted on.
